Windows XP Mode uses virtualization technology such as Windows Virtual PC runtime engine to provide a virtual Windows XP environment for Windows 7. In actual, Virtual Windows XP Mode is the combination of two features. Firstly, Windows Virtual PC-based virtualization technology, and secondly, pre-packaged virtual Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3), fully licensed and pre-activated.

Once installed, XPM essentially behaves like a typical virtual machine, but with one exceptional feature. Applications installed into Windows XP mode are automatically published to the host OS (Windows 7), with shortcuts added to Windows 7 Start Menu and can be launched just like any Windows 7 program. Optionally, these Windows XP applications can be pinned to the Windows 7 Task Bar and launched using just a single click from the Windows 7 desktop. Thus, any Windows XP-based software can co-exists with Windows 7 applications within just one single desktop.

Seamlessly run your favorite Windows applications and devices, on any Intel-based Mac. Built from the ground up for the Mac, VMware Fusion is the easiest way to switch to Mac, letting you bring all of your Windows applications with you, making the most of your Windows software investment, while providing the perfect safety blanket for the switch. Break Down the Walls Between Windows and Mac

With the powerful Unity feature, VMware Fusion seamlessly integrates your Windows applications with your Mac. Instantly launch Windows applications from any Mac file, the Dock, and more. Minimize Windows applications to the Dock and even quickly switch between Windows and Mac applications with Expose.

Number of View: 43

VMWare ThinApp – a package that is a competitor of Microsoft and Citrix, designed for virtualization applications. Simply put, with the help of this tool you can from the usual applications to easily make a portable (portable) version. The approach allows the «package» application in a container that contains all the information you need to work on any computer without the need to install the desired application.

Thus, importantly, virtualized software in no way affects and does not alter the current state of the operating system. The very same idea is to prevent software conflicts that can disrupt the system and installed it on. The usefulness is obvious: developers, for example, may carry out tests of new products without risk to violate the stability of the system environment. The approach will reduce the cost of deploying applications on the computers of end users. ThinApp allows you to run multiple versions of the same program. Thus, the simultaneous use of Internet Explorer 6 and 7 should be useful in the process of testing sites.

resulting in an application virtualization becoming available to end users on a network or using flash cards. This program is very good distributes applications, so no longer need to conduct extensive regression tests to check conflicts with other applications (or previous versions of this product). Along with competing products (for example, the beta Microsoft Application Virtualization 4.5 and Altiris Software Virtualization Solution) Program VMware ThinApp significantly different from the traditional tools for packaging applications because it can download an application package in a special section created in the system end user, so that the application will be done without crossing with other software that may already be installed.

Previously, there was a significant flaw: virtualized applications have been denied the opportunity to share data among themselves, since each of them performed in a single «sandbox». If the user while working with virtualized Microsoft Word tries to open Internet-link, a text editor can not turn to the browser. In ThinApp 4 has a new function is Application Link, which in the process of preparing the container, you can create the necessary links between virtualized applications. In the future, perhaps association of ThinApp with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, the proposed use is located on a remote server system and application environment. Analysts suggest that by 2010 virtualization applications will be due the introduction of a large business – an approach will be adopted by 50% of the companies.

Detection of conflicts when you install applications via virtualization
Application Virtualization applications distanced itself from the operating system and from each other, thus reducing the cost of testing, and minimizing conflicts incorrect applications. Just vstroyte file. MSI or. EXE for the introduction of a virtual environment system, including registry keys, DLL, and the structure of third-party libraries without requiring the installation of agents or applications to the appropriate operating system.

The only archiving and implementation at any point (Network, USB, physical and virtual desktops)
Implement virtualized applications in user mode, without administrative rights. No need to install device drivers and edit the registry, because the program and its virtual OS are considered as a single EXE. Behind distribute large applications from a network drive shared without the client or server software. Keep or return back applications even while they work. The new version will be launched at next use.

Using Mobile Devices
Users will be able to run applications on virtually any computer to which they have access, including personal computers in the kiosks and hotels. You do not need to install software or drivers, and do not need administrator rights. Applications run directly from removable storage devices including flash drives.

Improving the process of distribution
Protecting the local operating system to changes that may lead to unstable or create security holes, using the existing tools settings. Even users with restricted records can safely run virtual applications without the need for local installation, which makes the product more attractive to the IT-staff, concerns about security.

Easy migration of operating systems and applications
Virtualization of applications without the agent ThinApp makes it easier to migrate operating systems, allowing applications to run together on the same operating system. Users can continue to operate as usual without interruption of the problematic applications. Moreover, if an application need to be removed from the final node – it will look like a simple file deletion without the need for «clean» registry.

Number of View: 26

There is a lot of confusion regards what hardware is required to run Hyper-V

The Windows Server Catalog shows an up to date list of all successfully Hyper-V tested systems. For older server systems, newer ones not o n the catalog yet, or non-server systems you can use the following tools to check if your system process supports Hyper-V:

One screen of the Intel tool looks likes this (emphasis added):

Hyper-V requires both hardware assisted virtualization (HAV) and data execution prevention (AMD NX/Intel XD) enabled in the BIOS.

1. Official Hyper-V system requirements are:

Hyper-V requires specific hardware. You can identify systems that support the x64 architecture and Hyper-V by searching the Windows Server catalog for Hyper-V as an additional qualification (see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=111228).

To install and use the Hyper-V role, you will need the following:

· An x64-based processor.Hyper-V is available in 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2008—specifically, the 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2008 Standard, Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, and Windows Server 2008 Datacenter. Hyper-V is not available for 32-bit (x86) editions or Windows Server 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems. However, the Hyper-V management tools are available for 32-bit editions. For more information about the tools, see Installing Hyper-V.

· Hardware-assisted virtualization. This is available in processors that include a virtualization option—specifically processors with Intel Virtualization Technology (Intel VT) or AMD Virtualization (AMD-V) technology.

· Hardware-enforced Data Execution Prevention (DEP) must be available and enabled. Specifically, you must enable Intel XD bit (execute disable bit) or AMD NX bit (no execute bit).

The settings for hardware-assisted virtualization and hardware-enforced DEP are available in the BIOS. However, the names of the settings may differ from the names identified above. For more information about whether a specific processor model supports Hyper-V, check with the manufacturer of the computer. If you modify the settings for hardware-assisted virtualization or hardware-enforced DEP, you may need to turn off the power to the computer and then turn it back on. Restarting the computer may not apply the changes to the settings.

There are few tools that will help you assess your machine for it’s suitability to run Hyper-V

For AMD

AMD Virtualization™ Technology and Microsoft® Hyper-V™ System Compatibility Check Utility – This utility checks your system’s capabilities to facilitate testing of Microsoft Hyper-V on platforms with AMD microprocessors. To use this utility: Download and unzip AMD-V_Hyper-V_Compatibility_Check_Utility.zip. Change to the directory where the files were extracted to and click on amdhyperv.exe. On Windows Vista™ or Windows Server® 2008, you need to run the application with elevated privilege, so right click the .exe and select run as administrator. Note: the .sys files must be in the same directory as the .exe file.
Download Now!

For Intel Processors
